American Nightmare - s/t 7"

I pull out records and play them for the first time in a while, and the memories come flooding back. F'r instance...

It shocks the shit out of me that it's been 8 years since I picked this up at Reptilian Records. This was the first HC record I'd bought after two years of being Ten-Yard-Fought-to-death. A bunch of holier-than-thou sXe kids beat the shit out Duncan Barlow for being a shittalkin' fag, so why wouldn't they roll over some nobody? I'll stick to my Heartattack and my Dischord releases, thanks a bunch!

It seems really silly now, but the self-titled debut 7" from American Nightmare was a revelation to me back then. Totally brutal riffs, heart on the sleeve lyrics, kids wearing something other than basketball jerseys and fat X's on their was fucking awesome. I asked Tony Pence to play this three times before I walked out with a copy that day. This is now available as part of Year One by Give Up the Ghost.

Thanks for posting...after years of sleeping on this band, I finally checked out Background Music and love it. BTW wasn't it floorpunch who went after Duncan Barlow?

Crude - Immortality

This is just a super quick one for all you hardcore kids. Besides, the good Senator stole all the vitriol I had stored up for his major screed below. I rediscovered this gem while cleaning my office the other day. When Deranged released Immortality a few years back, they also released a limited run of 300 CDs with a dope acetate cover. So that's where this is from. If you like Japanese D-beat, this is right up your alley. I feel like perhaps I should say more, like how this record had a major impact on my life, but I'd be lying. I found it in a stack of promo CDs, I ripped it, and I've been playing it loudly on my iPod for the past few days. And now I have to run off, since Mrs. Ape Mummy made cookies. Let the circle pit begin!

Live at Chaos in Tejas, 5/17/08 - Majesty

I've been working through the first hour of Star Trek, having called off "Dinner and a Movie", and, instead, just fixed pancakes, eggs and milk.  I have all the epicurean taste of a 12-year-old.  As great as this looks in 1080p, I'm just having a hard time staying awake.  Maybe I shouldn't have seen this four times this summer.  I'm a geek. was a bargain-bin discovery for me.  If memory serves, I scored this for $2 from Reptilian on a Sunday when I should have been home, painting a wall or fixing a toilet or doing whatever a typical husband and homeowner does.  But, like I said, I'm a geek.  I like record stores, book giveaways and staying faithful to the people I love.

Back to h.g.c: they were from Richmond and recorded for Old Glory Records. Old Glory was one of those labels like Vermiform, Vermin Scum, and Gravity that was amazingly great in the early 90's and then fell off the map by 2000.  Members of went on to Rah Bra…
